Forgiveness

I had a friend tell me once that their success in life was attributed to be quick to forgive himself. I thought about it. Forgiving myself. What a concept?How many times do we labor in our wrong doings? Carrying it for days, months, maybe years? I know I have in the past.  This morning I messed up and felt the guilt of it all day and night long. Why do we do that? I won't even try to answer that questions. I wish I was quicker to forgive myself.   1 John 1:9 says, "But if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness."   I find comfort also in Psalm 103:12,"He has removed our sins far from us as far as the east is from the west." (NLT)  That's pretty far. Don't you just wish that we could erase the memories of our wrong doings like Jesus does? I do. Yet I think God allows us these memories not to haunt us, but humble us. To always remember that we are sinners in desperate need of Him, so that we in turn can give out grace and forgiveness to others.  
I sure don't like it when I fail, especially in my own home, yet I am thankful that forgiveness and cleansing is just a confession away. Embrace the Cleansing of the Lord. I wouldn't chase dirt from the tub to put back on me again, would you?
