The other day my family and I were walking around our complex. One of the things they like to do, is pick me flowers. Usually by the time I get home, I have a very full beautiful and eclectic bouquet. I love it. (but don't tell my HOA lol)
Well, this time we walked by a beautiful purple flowers and my daughter picked a little bunch for me. After a few steps of our walk, the kids were smelling a rather stinky stench. "Is there a skunk around?" they questioned. "I don't think so," I replied. We walked on further and the smell was following us.
Oh, the kids were not liking this at all. They kept wriggling their noses and showing their disapproval for that was coming across their nostrils.
Then it dawned on me; it's coming from the flowers.
Boy, once I smelt them myself, I knew they were the culprit. I made each one of them smell it to confirm that it wasn't coming from a skunk.
Once we got rid of the smell, we headed on to our walk. It ended out at the back of our garage where our neighbors love to plant roses (they are a cute couple in their early 90's and still going strong). Anyway, I had them smell the roses before we went in for our snack. Hummmm. "Those smell good," said the kids. "Wow, mom smell this one," said baby girl. Before to long, all our noses were enjoying the fragrance of the roses.
"Pretty on Pretty," I said.
You see the purple flowers were pretty but the smell was stinky from within. The roses on the other hand were not only pretty on the outside, but pretty on the inside as well. I shared with them that it was God's heart from us to be PRETTY ON PRETTY. God doesn't look at the outside, He looks at our hearts. I encouraged them that we are to be filling up our hearts with the Fragrance of Christ daily.
Pretty in; Pretty out.
May we all seek to be Pretty on Pretty.
How is your attitude? How is your tone of voice?
Are there areas in our life that are making not a pretty smell?
It's a good reminder to keep the inside clean and fragrant, surely the inside
will effect the outside. LOL
