Yesterday in my reading I came to Psalm 16.
It's a beautiful Psalm full of wonderful promises.
There were two verses in particular that stood out to me: verse 1 and verse 5.
Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust.
I love this one because as this world is being set up from Jesus' return it's going to be increasingly evil unit that day.
Here is a promise I hold onto that God will preserve me through it all. I claim it for me and for my friends and family.
But it was verse 5 that really got me thinking.
Verse 5
O LORD, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup;
You maintain my lot.
Why? because we bought a new home (an old home that we are making new) and it's been a lot of time, money and energy just to get it up and functioning (still working on the later). So when I read this, I just laughter and said, "God you are maintaining my lot." (as in the property of the house). You see I've never received any inheritance on this Earth and I have always gone back to this scripture that God is my inheritance. He is enough. Yet, now that we have a home, I thought it was fun to apply the last part of the verse to my house.
What I didn't know is that it wasn't the lot of my new house that God was maintaining and looking over today, it was the lot of the condo where we currently live.
Here comes the part in the movie that you would here dum da dum dumb.
Because I wanted to save some money and not go to a coffee shop, I decided to make my own chai tea late at home.
I had bought a mix and grabbed the milk and started to heat it on the stove. I delved a huge portion for myself to reward me for the sacrifice I was making in saving a few dollars.
(Pride goes before destruction....for sure)
Well, I forgot to set the timer as I am accustom to doing so.
In the hustle and the bustle of the day, I left home without my chai tea.
I left home without my chai tea, on the stove warming up.
I left home for a few hours without my chai tea, warming up on the stove.
It was only when I pulled back into the drive way that I remembered the forgotten chai.
Now is the Part of the movie where the eery music plays.
I literally jumped out of the car before the garage was fully opened, yelled at my kids to stay outside and ran into the house.
God was maintaining my lot.
For when I opened the door, I could smell something was burning, but nothing more. There wasn't any smoke in the area just fumes. PTL
God was maintaining my lot.
Sometimes we are clueless on how God watches over us and for those things that matter to us.
I was prepared for the worse and God allowed me to have the least damage.
Yes, my pan was ruined incinerated completely charred, yet God was there.
I told my husband and tears of humiliation were my food that night.
However, he kept reminding me to be thankful that nothing worse had happened.
Then he did what a wonderful brilliant kindhearted husband would do...
I tried to make the clouds look like steam from the latte.
Anyway, God is good. My husband is sweet, and I got a latte before I went to sleep.
Thanks God and Thanks Husband.
I hope this can encourage you in some way.
1st don't leave home without checking your stove is off.
2nd God really uses the scriptures from our devotions time to speak to us
3rd God really does care about our daily lives.
4th Buy the latte!!!
Blessings.
