I stumbled upon this thought this morning because I experienced something awesome today that I thought worth sharing.
It all started back there in May when we lead worship for a Church in Costa Mesa. We were at Pastor Terry's fellowship and my husband was busy so he couldn't join us for some reason. I was left to watch over the kids and do worship. Why is that hard or a concern? because they had to sit alone in the aisle in front of me and be quiet. (That can be hard for bouncy boys and giggly girls.)
Anyway, needless to say they sat there and waited till it was their turn to sing. (yes, they sing with us and I love it)
So as they came up I noticed my daughter brought up the cell phone. I was a bit nervous because I hadn't shut it off, but there was nothing I could do now we had to sing.
What I didn't notice was she actually was recording us. My daughter thought it was would be good to record us during our worship set, so she set it in voice memos.
She told me afterward that she recorded a lot of the worship set as well as when the kiddos sang. Wow, I didn't think about recording our set on our phone, but I thought that was an interesting thing to do and left it at that.
I had no intensions of listening to it because I don't like to hear my voice but something changed all that today.
This morning as I was having quiet time out in my backyard while swinging on swing I looked at my phone voice memos. (okay so I was a bit distracted as I admit I was unfocused for a bit, but only for a short time.)
I came across the memo that said Worship Terry's. I had to play it. I had forgotten that my daughter recorded the worship set. So as I was swinging there I was again brought to a place of worship and began to sing unto the Lord.
I tell you it was a very sweet time I had with the Lord. I actually started to really worship with our past worship set. It was great.
Of course the recording had my kiddos voices talking a bit in the recording but that just made me thankful that again that they did such a good job of sitting there.
Then it played the part where the kids were singing their song and I began to cry.
I am so thankful for the life the Lord has allowed me to live. I've been blessed with a hard working husband and 3 beautiful wonderful kiddos. Now that we all sing and do worship together it just makes it icing on the cake.
Okay, what does this all have to do with devotions and spending time with God.
Okay here it is.
I began to think about recording my church's worship set, so I can play it back through the week during devotion time.
It's like having your own personal worship session right there with you all the time:Come along Songs.
They go with you everywhere. So if you have a moment to sit and be still or go for a jog or just eat you lunch, you can get a bit of worship in.
I don't know if this idea excites you, because it already does me.
Every week I can have a new song set to reflect on.
It's an idea, just an idea, but maybe an idea to think about doing.
But just having that recording today made my quiet time with the Lord all the more special this morning.
Sounds funny? Maybe
But as soon as I can find more space in my phone storage, I am gonna try it.
Come on: bring along the songs.
Blessings.
