Do you like to be active? Do you like to multi-task? Well, how about trying the walking devotion?
I discovered one of my favorite websites awhile back and it's truly revolutionized my devotion time: bible gateway audio bible.
Simply link into the website via iPhone, put on speaker or grab your ear piece or bluetooth or whatever you use to keep your head from getting bombarded by the waves from the transmit ions from the phone, and listen away to chapters of the Bible. For those traveling in the great outdoors, walk, walk, walk that is of course, making sure you can still be safe and hear the cars and people around you. LOL I think of a guy in the Bible that was just walking and had a radical experience with God. Do you know Enoch? The Bible says, And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him (Genesis 5:24).
Can you imagine that? Just one day, God took him to heaven. I would love to be walking having devotion time with God and "Bomb" I was caught up with God in heaven. WOW!!! Okay, so was Enoch actually walking at the time God took him? I don't know but I thought it was funny for this blog to put it in. Ha Ha
Here's another story; this time it's of Philip. God told him to run up to a chariot and explain some scriptures to an Ethiopian who was reading the word of God. The story goes that Philip got to not only share Christ with that man but also baptize him. After that, here's what happened, Now when they came out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing (Acts 8:39). The Lord transported Philip to Azotus and he continued preaching. I was just thinking or maybe I shouldn't but I thought What would it be like if I was walking in devotion and some Bible Teacher appeared to us to help answer our questions? Can you picture it? That's what happened with the Ethiopian when God sent Philip.
God is amazing and can do amazing things with our lives. Keep walking with Him and see what amazing things He will do with your life.
Going back to the devotions for the indoor motions. I've found it helpful to listen to the Bible as I am riding my stationary bike. Even when I have an opportunity to go to the gym, instead of watching the T.V. monitors or listening to their music, I like to listen to the Bible and get some "Spiritual Washing" in.
P.S. I am always surprised how I blaze through my Bible reading this way. Of Course, this is just to get an overview and a more in-depth and meditation time in much needed but this has been so fun for me lately.
Give it a go, if you want too.
