The other day I had a craving for Key Lime Pie. (I'm really into citrus lately)
I saw a show on Barefoot Contessa and had to try it.
Well, as I pulled out the lime bag and started squeezing the limes, I ran into a problem.
The Limes weren't juicy.
I had a whole bag staring at me. But they we dudes. I thought how can this be?
I needed 3/4 cup of lime juice and my first lime only gave me a few drops.
I was so discouraged, I called for reinforcements to help: my son.
He twisted, he turned, he pressed, he squeezed. No luck, those limes just didn't have it in them.
We got to 1/8 cup after 8 limes. Dude this is painful.
Then I waited.
Waited?
Yes, waited! I waited till big Daddy got home. I thought for sure his hands would squeezed the life out of them.
Even he could only get so much. They just didn't have it in them.
I was bummed.
A whole bag just for 1/4 of a cup. Bummmer.
I insisted that he persisted. He said no. NO! What!
Yes, No! Why? because they just didn't have it in them. He's smart.

Here I was toiling and toiling over something so trivial. These limes just didn't have the juice I needed. No matter how I wanted the juice to flow out of them they just couldn't.
Then I began to think about Christians and the Christian walk.
John 15 talkes about bearing fruit for the Lord.
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."
As Christians, we are to be bearing fruit, lots of it. The more we are learning and getting to know the Lord, the more we will grow.
But then I began to think of my poor limes.
I wonder if they just were picked too early. They just didn't have the juice inside of them.
I don't know why but they just weren't juicy.
Then I began to think of the depth of Christians.
Many are bearing fruit, but are we really as juicy as we should be.
How deep do we want to go with Christ.
How juicy are we?
How juicy am I?
How juicy are you?
Are we full of joy as the Bible says we should be?
Are we really walking that abundant life? or are we just barely getting by?
John 10:11-12
“If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full."
God desires us to be full, complete, lacking nothing.
How? by Abiding in Him.
Personally, I find my devotion and worship time are the ways that I fill up and stay hydrated. Daily talking to God and interacting with my Savior is so vital. I encourage you to do the same.
Don't settle for just bearing mediocre fruit, go for the juicy fruit.
Back to the Limes
Well, my husband is so smart. After we tried to squeeze those limes to get juice, he decided just to leave them alone. Hense, the three little limes left behind.
Sorry little guys, you just no use today.
I actually tried to zest them and even that was difficult. Boy, they were just show I guess.
Well, he was the hero in this story. He got up and left the house. What! Yes.
He got up left the house and went searching for better limes. Juicy ones!!!
How's that for JUICE.
Within a few minutes, I had all the juice and more I needed.
2 of these verses 8-10 of the others, there was just no comparison.
Man, my husband is smart. He knew just what to do.
Within a few moments, the Key Lime pie was made and into the freezer to chill.
Boy, these limes taught me a valuable lesson of my christian life: to be a juicy one. LOL
How Juciy are you?
Do the fruits of the spirit flow quickly out of your life, or do you have to be squeezed excessively to find a drop?
Well, that's personal. For me, I want to be as juicy as I can.
Lord help us to be men and women who not only bear fruit but bear fruit rich and abundance.
What are the fruits of the spirit? Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Well, my husband was smart. I've said that 4 times. Why? because I couldn't believe just how silly I was to keep trying to squeeze those limes. I didn't even want him to go to the store. I thought for sure he could do it. Well, he's smart, he did what I should have done, went and got more.
It's great having a smart husband.
Okay I'm done. :)
Blessings
