I woke up today very tired and exhausted from the weeks full robust activities.
As I was thinking of all the things I could do for this day, I tired even more and put my head back down on the pillow. (Do you ever have days like that) Just the thought of my starting my day and doing my morning routine overwhelmed me.
Well as I turned my head to the side, I saw my devotional on the night stand. That's it, I need a bit of encouragement today. Instead of doing the normal devotion routine of listening, reading, writing and all, I was groping for a bit of spoonful me devotion. (where someone else was going to hold up my hands and I wasn't going to do the leading. Maybe it's like getting already prepared food so you don't have to cook from scratch. Thank God for ready made devotions; they help too)
As I opened up for the day, I was pleasantly blessed to read
"Cause me to hear they lovingkindness in the morning for in thee do I trust.
cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my should unto thee"
Psalm 143:8
Wow, that's just the pick me up I needed for the morning. The passage that followed was a gentle reminder to put the Lord first in the day before you head off to do all that you need to do. So what I need to hear.
Then I remembered the new song by Lauren Daigle called First
The intro says
Before I bring my need
I will bring my heart
Before I lift my cares
I will lift my arms
I wanna know You
I wanna find You
In every season
In every moment
Before I bring my need
I will bring my heart
And seek You
First
I wanna seek You
I wanna seek You
First
I wanna keep You
I wanna keep You
First
More than anything I want, I want You
First
I couldn't help but getting a smile on my face as the music bounced around in my room.
That's how the morning started for me. I just needed to hear from the Lord, to be refreshed, and get the encouragement I needed FIRST, before anything else, to hear from Him first.
No, I didn't open the Bible for myself first this morning, but I tell you God knew that tucked away in that devotion was the very motivation I need to set my mind on the things of God before all the things of Earth that I was going to be involved with that day.
I don't usually just read a devotion cause I love to glean in the Word and find all the secret nuggets for myself, but today was a special day: Spoon feed and happy. (Oh I did read a bit but not the full extent of what I am used too)
Sometimes you just need a break from the routine.
Live free, Love it.
Enjoy your journey
