It was so funny when it came to improvements on our house, because I was so afraid to even try. (I think it's because I used to break things all the time when I tried to help my mom. I was a bit afraid of my strength. Needless to say, I enjoy DEMO days and I fret Building Days)
Well, I remember when my Uncle came over to help us get started on painting. He came to check on me and the room I was doing. Nothing had been done. I had starred at the walls wondering if I was going to mess things up. I wasn't confident to take the plunge and get started. He looked and me and laughed, "What are you doing?"
"I just don't know where to start." I replied timidly.
With that he picked up a paint brush and started to tackle the walls.
"Vanessa, it's just primer. Get going."
Lol. Okay so it was just primer, but I wanted it to be done right. My uncle's "go getting it" spirit encouraged me to embark on the journey of trial and error. Not everything I did was perfect, but I accomplished a lot that day.
Today, a year later, we have plenty of projects that need to be done. Plenty of things that seek our attention and things need to be replaced and changed. I find that I am a bit better at "going for it".
I still like to be guided by someone, encourage by others, I can't help it I just like someone by my side.
I guess you say the more you do something the better you get at it. I am on a journey of learning and trying. My husband has grown leaps and bounds over me in this house improvement things, but we like do it right next to each other.
Don't be afraid to try, you can always build it again.
