Don't forget how precious His thoughts are toward you. He really really loves you.
Annalee will speak for teens.
Ellie will speak for younger girls
Mamma will speak to help navigate them through the scriptures we all need for this life.
Mama: I sure couldn't count the grains. Remember God's Thoughts are even more than the grains.
Don't forget how precious His thoughts are toward you. He really really loves you.
Mama: Yes, Annalee, God doesn't want us to doubt when we pray to Him. If you back up a few verses you will see that James is talking about going through testings. In these test our faith gets tried or purified if you will. Sometimes in those situations, we really are prone to call out to God for His wisdom to get us through. It's at this point James encourages us to call out to God for the wisdom and not doubt that God will give it to us.
What God has promised, He will do. Guarantee.
So, Let's stay strong, allow are faith to build, and know God hears, God sees, and God will give to us all things we need for this life and the godliness He desires for us.
I love the OCEAN SHOT.
Wash you, make you clean;
put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes;
cease to do evil;Learn to do well;
relieve the oppressed,
judge the fatherless,
plead for the widow.
Annalee: It time for action. It's time to get up and help the world.
Mama: Yes. At this time in history, God wasn't wanting the religiousness of Israel. He wanted their hearts. However, sin ran rampant and people weren't listening to God. They were merely just doing religious duties with out a clean lifestyle or a heart for God. Isaiah was a prophet-a spokes man between God and man and throughout this book, He is going to tell the people what God's heart is for them. So lets look at these a little closer.
Annalee: I like
"Wash you and make you Clean and put away the evil of your doing before my eyes."
This is an encouragement to do the right thing when we feel tempted to do the wrong.
This personally helped me today to stop giving into temptation, bad decisions and laziness, to do the right thing and not to be wasting my day doing something wrong . So i got inspired to please God throughout the rest of my day and listening to the Holy Spirit.
If you've read earlier posts that we have been doing you probably have seen that i love simple commands and short statements so when i come across verses like this it simple, short and gets to the point as seen in this below:
cease to do evil;Learn to do well;
relieve the oppressed,
judge the fatherless,
plead for the widow.
Meaning lets have the right heart stop in your tracks of evildoing and turn to do the right thing!
Encourage and speak into the oppressed!
Defend the orphans!
beg for the widows NIV says plead the case of the widow. Help the widows!
Mama: You got it. God wanted the people first of all to Repent.
1. Repent means to turn away. For Christians, it means get right with God. How? We are to get rid of a lifestyle of sin. God says to put away the evil from your eyes. Interesting that in 1 John is says, "Lust of the eyes." How many things get us into trouble simply because we first "saw" them. Think about it. If you never saw an advertisement in a magazine, if you never saw someone wearing the latest fashion, or saw the brand new car, toy, or computer gadget would you even want it? Nope. Right, so many sins starts with what we are looking at.
2. Then once our relationships are right with God, we can have right relationships with people. You see, God gives us a heart for others. If He didn't we would just freely do our own thing and not care about anyone else. So here are somethings listed that God would be pleased with.
Micah 6:8 says it this way
He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the LORD require of you
But to do justly,
To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?
Defend the Oppressed
Take up the cause of the Fatherless
Please the case of the widow.
Jesus said and we used to sing as a kid, "If you want to be great in God's Kingdom, learn to be the servant of all."
That's the heart God is looking for in all of us. Servant hearted. Jesus was the greatest example for us to follow. He washed His disciples feet. He healed and ministered to the outcasts. He died for us all to have life.
Is your heart right before God today?
That's were it all starts.
God says to put away the evil and put on the Holy Spirit. Come clean today.
Then He will fill you up with a heart to serve others.
The Greatest of all Commandments.
Love God; Love Others
"Most of all, let love guide your life, for then the whole church will stay together in perfect harmony."TLB
And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.NKJ
Mama: First of all, I am a fan of King James and New King James Versions of the Bible when I am teaching and studying ; however, I also enjoy comparing Bible translations just to see how others put the verses. Sometimes, you can understand the concepts a bit more easily when comparing. Sometimes, the translations, in my opinion, can steer you in a different direction, so you just have to keep everything in context.
Annalee: When I heard, "Let love Guide your life," I liked the translation because it's just simple, short, and gets to the point. I like the commands. I like these easy little points that are cool. Another versions says "knit together in love". It's cool that love is like a braid, so strong, and wrapped up in it and you can conquer the world with love.
I like the simple phrases that really catch your attention.
Mama: Yeah, like something you could paint and hang on a wall, or put on a coffee mug, or make a t-shirt out of. I also like the scriptures that makes you think and are catchy phrases. So much so that We have many picture frames, mugs and clothing items with these scriptures on them.
Although Annalee likes the TLB, Truth be told, I really like the NKJ because it says to "Put on Love". I am thinking of the clothing that God wants us to wear in our actions, behaviors, and lifestyles. When I think of it in this context, it challenges me to be actively aware of what and how I am responding to life. It's what people will notice when they watch my life.
It brings me to the powerful abilities of choice.
Love should be the motivation for why we do things. Read 1 Cor 13 and you'll see just how much God desires our motivation to be in love.
Also, God has given us a free will, where He allows us to make your choices in this life. In addition, God makes it very clear what He desires for us and what it means live a life that actually pleases Him. And even on top of that, He fills us with the Power of the Holy Spirit for us to live in that way. So, it's like getting a gift and having the batteries included. If He says to let love guide your life, He means it and He'll give you the love you need to do this.
Mama: So Love should be our Anthem. Right?
Annalee: Yip. I like it.
Mama: Ellie, what do you think of the verse?
Ellie: That's cool.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear,
but of power and of love and of a sound mind NKJV
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid,
but gives us power, love and self-discipline. NIV
Annalee: First of all, I like it because it gives us a command what to follow. It tells us not to be timid but to be BOLD. Jesus is the Lion of Judah and lions are not timid and they aren't ashamed to be lions. You just don't mess with them.
Second, POWER. In Christ with Holy Spirit we have POWER. To rebuke the enemy,in prayer and to cast away, in Jesus name, principalities, powers, rulers of darkness in spiritual warfare (Eph 6).
Thirdly, LOVE. Love is a very unique too. There are different types of love. Love is an important tool for motivation esp. found in 1 John and 1 Corn 13. We have to go out with love or what we do is really nothing.
Fourthly, Self Discipline. Discipline is NIV but NKJ says sound mind. I really don't know the definition but I am using NIV. Self Discipline can be defined to stick to what you believe, no matter what. The definition online on Oxford languages states the ability to control one's feelings and overcome one's weaknesses; the ability to pursue what one thinks is right despite temptations to abandon it.
So having these characteristics and motivations, it really shows what the Spirit of God is all about.
We need to apply them in our hearts and lives.
So Stay BOLD, use His Power, Love Always, and Stay Self Disciplined.
Thank You Annalee for that. Don't you just love how God gives us practical steps in how to live our lives?
If you really want to see the Power of God one needs to take God's Word seriously and apply what it says. So let's see how that works for this verse.
This verse has helped me a number of times, because I get fearful often. Being an introvert, I can get intimidated even to talk to a stranger whether on the phone or grocery store. I mean my heart races and I get all nervous, so I use this verse to help conquer my fear of talking to strangers.
So here's what I do.
I say when I get fearful, "God you said you have not given me a Spirit of Fear. So I know this is not from you. Lord rebuke this fear in my life, and fill me with Your POWER, YOUR LOVE, and A MIND STAYED ON YOU. In Jesus name."
Another thing, is the sound mind, really means here a mind that is thinking on Jesus. When we focus on All Mighty God when we are in a situation, our fear goes away. Why? Because He is the maker of the Universe, He has conquered over death and the enemy, and NOTHING and I Mean NOTHING is too hard for HIM.
There's a verse that says it well, You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you Isaiah 26:3
So when you feel afraid, THINK ON GOD. KNOW THE HOLY SPIRIT IS WITH YOU and YOU ARE AN OVERCOMER.
“Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. Matthew 10:31
Spring is in the air and it is so joyous the sounds the birds are making right now.
I love having my windows open to let the sun shine, soft breezes, and songs of the birds in to fill my home with beautiful things.
So I found it ironic that I read this verse today during my quiet time with the Lord.
The progression to vs 31 is interesting in the scriptures.
vs 27 preaching the gospel out loud
In vs 28 God talks about the importances of the Fear of God over all things even over fearing people who can kill the body
Then vs 29 He talks about the worth of sparrows and how God's will and care is connected with the sparrows falling to the ground.
Then vs 30 He says the very hairs of your head are all numbered- crazy to think about
Then vs 31 We are more valuable then many sparrows.
I find this progression interesting because it's like God is encouraging that as we do preach the gospel and proclaim His good news, He is right there with us. He knows that people can be hostile to his message but we are to obey God over man every time. He knows that we might feel uncomfortable and discouraging but He wants us to be encouraged; He is right there with us.
He values us so much. He cares for us so much. He wants us to be reminded that we are more valuable than many many many sparrows.
If the Father looks after these birds and is will is done in them, How much more does God value us and will have His will accomplished in our lives.
What a freeing thought!!!
God is in control and values us. We are special to Him. He loves us so much.
You know what this makes me do?
Every time I hear a bird, I say, "I am more valuable then they."
If God hears and sees them, I know He sees me.
So with Spring in the Air and Birds fly here and there, remember God is looking more at you then them.
Enjoy the Spring and knowing that you are so VALUABLE.
Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets
The Golden Rule.
I was helping my daughter with Algebra the other day and I was laughing because they have a golden rule for Algebra. Do you remember what it is?
"If you change the value on one side of the equation then you have to change the value on the other side of the equation by the same amount."
Okay, I am not meaning to hurt your head.
If only life was that simple. What was done on one side will be done on the other. However, God's golden rule follows something like this, on the other side do what you want to be done to you. In the balance of life this is a great way to life.
God wants us to treat others as we want to be treated because it show the world His Character. Plus this is a great way to live.
Although we aren't guarrented the out come to be equal for those on earth, you better be sure God is going to bless you far beyond whatever you do for others.
God has a way of blessing us for the little we do for Him or give to Him, we just have to obey what He says. God is an abundant blesser.
Do you remember the little boy with 5 loaves and 2 fish? That's what he had available to give to Jesus. What did God do with that? He feed 5,000 men plus women and children and had 12 baskets left over Matthew 14.
Do you remember what God said to the Prophet in Malachi about giving of our money to God?
Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,”
Says the LORD of hosts,
“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it Malachi 3:10
Look about what His abundance giving.
So there is a connection when we give to God. It seems to me, if we are just willing to give to God what's in our hands, He turns it into amazing things. I just think we neglect to give, neglect to try, neglect to take a chance. For some reason God does wait for us to move in these situations. No He doesn't have too but I believe He does because He wants your heart in it.
Live out the Golden Rule for you spiritual health sake. Even if you don't get the response from others, now that God is watching and will in Earth and in Eternal life Your God IS REWARDING You.
He's that Awesome. Just do it.
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God
When you are wanting to please God, it's also a good idea to know what doesn't please Him. It only makes sense. The negative is just as important as the positive.
When I think about what I can do for my husband on a special occasion I immediately rule out things I know he wouldn't like: no matter how much I might want to do it or get it. I have learned the hard way in this discovery. I have gotten him a watch, he never wears it. I have gotten him a men's chain bracelet, he never wears. Until, I learned he doesn't like to wear anything on his hands. He has sensitive skin. So now knowing this about him, even though I might like a man's leather watch for him, it won't please him and it won't please me to see it hidden somewhere never to be seen again.
So as with the Lord. There are things that please Him and there are behaviors and actions that don't.
Here are just a few mentioned in Colossians.
But now you yourselves are to put off all these:
anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.
Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds
Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth
:fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,
idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Maybe you don't struggle with these things directly. But what about an unkind word, unkind tone of voice, a sarcastic comment? Yes these things don't please the Lord either.
No matter how I try to do well. I do fail at times. But it's not an ultimate failure. It's just those moments I wish I hadn't given into.
We all have struggles
Paul was vulnerable in this area too. He says in Romans 7
For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice
But here is his resolve.
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before Phil 3:13
Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him 2 Cor 5:9
Keep going forward. Yes, we do walk in the flesh. Yes, we do fail yet that shouldn't be the majority of our lives. Keep walking. Keep being filled with the Holy Spirit, and keep going.
Just keep your heart thinking about what pleases and doesn't please him.
The enemy wants us to get discouraged and ultimately give up. Don't.
We all make mistakes. Just correct your course to the heart of Christ.
Jesus was the only perfect one ever and His mo is:
And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.
Although I will never be able to say this statement, I can say, I always try to do those thing that Please Him. He knows our hearts. He loves us. Hang in there and keep going forward.
“Only fear the LORD, and serve Him in truth with all your heart;
for consider what great things He has done for you." I Samuel 12:24
There is just something about knowing how God's desires for us to live. His commandments are pure and they are clean, enlightening us into how to enjoy the wonderful life in Christ.
The first thing we see here is that we are to "fear the Lord". What this means is that we understand that God is God and we have a reverence and respect for Him and His Word. I think so many people have the wrong concepts of God and therefore don't take to heart what God's Word says. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom because when we attune our heart to God's heart, we find we are walking in the Divine Nature (as Peter talks about) and our life styles reflect His ways. God is God and what He says is Truth.
Secondly, we are to Serve Him in truth, with all our heart. Serve-in truth-with all our heart. I like that. How do we serve Him? Well, some people are in ministry so it's easier to see in them. Others it can come in the form of honoring your family, serving those around you, and being conscious that as you do these things, you are serving the Lord.
But do we do it with all our heart?
Well, I can say I do try. Other times it's more out of obligation when it comes to daily tasks, but when we have the fresh perspective that we are serving God in it all- that changes everything. "The least you have done it to these, you have done it to ME." says Jesus.
But in this verse I think comes of key word
God love it when we remember Him. Consider ALL The Great things He has done for you!!!
What a command!!! Keeping our mind on All that God has done for us is such a healthy mind set.
No matter what circumstance you are in. Whether high, whether low, Remember the Great things God has done.
There are so many facets to this thinking.
Do we think on His heart? His Creation, His Purpose, His Plan, His Salvation, His Glory, His Heaven, His Love, His attribute. How He saves, helps, comforts, guides, leads, protects, empowers, fulfills, creates, takes away, builds up, blesses, corrects, esteems, exhalts... I just can go on and on.
But what it is that you consider?
Have you Considered?
Are you Considering?
Just remember all the Great things He has done for you.
I was reading in Malachi a passage that posed this question, and it got me thinking. The original words, however, were in a negative context against the Lord; however, I thought to change it to a positive. God told a people that He loved them. Yet the people challenged Him back, How have you loved us? Wow. To talk so disrespectfully to God is scary. However it's a question, put in the right attitude of the heart that is worth exploring.
How has the Lord Loved you?
Take a memory walk with me.
Where were you a year ago with your understanding of God?
Where were you 5 years ago?
How about 10 years ago?
Can you go back to 15 years ago?
Okay maybe 20?
Depending on your age, you can keep going back.
Think, Remember, Ponder for a moment.
How has the Lord loved you?
Do you sense His love wrapping all about your life? I do.
I think of the family He put me in.
I can think of the times He comforted me through pain and loss.
I can think of the jobs he provided me with.
I can think of my salvation and all things associated with being His child.
The moments of Him putting songs in my heart to write.
The times of His presence in pure worship before Him.
His whispers of love through His Word and in meditation of those things.
The times of His answered to prayer.
Giving me opportunity to speak of His love to the lost.
Giving me a husband
Giving me children
The list goes on and on.
Too each of things there are tons of God Stories and I love Him for that.
How has the Lord Loved You?
More specifically. All through out my life, God has done something really wonderful for me. He puts fallen roses and flowers in my path. Time and time again as I am walking through the years, I would almost step on these flowers that were before my feet. It's happened so often in just the right moment, it can only be Divinely placed.
I remember specifically one of the first ones. I was walking into South Coast Plaza mall early in the morning to get a cup of coffee. It was around the time, I was in a relationship that I felt God was calling me to leave. Sometimes, you just want to hold on to them because you want someone to hold on too. So I was really talking to the Lord about this. As I walked on the sidewalk, in front of me was a fallen rose: beautifully yellow and pinkish mixed. It still had it's long stem on it and almost looked perfect with just a hint of a worn out. I was laying there all alone. No one in sight. No one around. I looked around. I looked up. I looked everywhere and all was quiet around me. I walked over to it. Picked it up. I still looked around. I sensed the Lord speak to my heart, "I love you."
I knew God was saying that His love was enough for me. He wanted me to let go of that person, and to hold on to Him.
It wasn't the easiest thing to do, but looking back that guy wasn't my husband. I would have been wasting my time to stay in that relationship where there would have been no future.
Not every time had such a big reason for me. I just am reminded of God's love for me every time I see a fallen flower.
The other day after I told my children about how God shows His love for me, we were walking down at the beach. My son yelled and ran to a fallen flower, "Mom, God really does that for you," as he picked up and handed to me. "Yes, son and He's just done that for you too."
How does God love on you?
Do you have a God story?
Does God show you in special ways?
If you want to share, please comment below so we can all be blessed.
IF you haven't seen God move like that in your life, simply ask Him.
His love for you isn't any different for you or for me.
I hope waking down memory, spurs your heart for your relationship with Him.
