“Only fear the LORD, and serve Him in truth with all your heart;
for consider what great things He has done for you." I Samuel 12:24
for consider what great things He has done for you." I Samuel 12:24
There is just something about knowing how God's desires for us to live. His commandments are pure and they are clean, enlightening us into how to enjoy the wonderful life in Christ.
The first thing we see here is that we are to "fear the Lord". What this means is that we understand that God is God and we have a reverence and respect for Him and His Word. I think so many people have the wrong concepts of God and therefore don't take to heart what God's Word says. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom because when we attune our heart to God's heart, we find we are walking in the Divine Nature (as Peter talks about) and our life styles reflect His ways. God is God and what He says is Truth.
Secondly, we are to Serve Him in truth, with all our heart. Serve-in truth-with all our heart. I like that. How do we serve Him? Well, some people are in ministry so it's easier to see in them. Others it can come in the form of honoring your family, serving those around you, and being conscious that as you do these things, you are serving the Lord.
But do we do it with all our heart?
Well, I can say I do try. Other times it's more out of obligation when it comes to daily tasks, but when we have the fresh perspective that we are serving God in it all- that changes everything. "The least you have done it to these, you have done it to ME." says Jesus.
But in this verse I think comes of key word
CONSIDER.
God love it when we remember Him. Consider ALL The Great things He has done for you!!!
What a command!!! Keeping our mind on All that God has done for us is such a healthy mind set.
No matter what circumstance you are in. Whether high, whether low, Remember the Great things God has done.
There are so many facets to this thinking.
Do we think on His heart? His Creation, His Purpose, His Plan, His Salvation, His Glory, His Heaven, His Love, His attribute. How He saves, helps, comforts, guides, leads, protects, empowers, fulfills, creates, takes away, builds up, blesses, corrects, esteems, exhalts... I just can go on and on.
But what it is that you consider?
Have you Considered?
Are you Considering?
Just remember all the Great things He has done for you.
Amen.
Blessings.
