Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation. Exodus 34:6-7 and Numbers 14:18
I feel it's so important to understand who God is that I've been searching the scriptures to see what they say about the Lord and how they describe Him. I've been blessed. If I finish the compilations, I will post it as a pdf below. My challenge to you is look through the list and highlight the Lord is...for His character, then The Lord is who He is to us. Put them in two columns and see what you learn about God and how He relates to man. That's your homework.
Going back to this scripture. So this is the account of when Moses was on Mt. Sinai and the LORD passed before Him. Moses recored what God has said about Himself. Let's list what He said:
The LORD- Jehovah-the name of God
The LORD GOD- He is God
Abundant in Goodness
Abundant in Truth
Keeping Mercy for Thousands
Forgiving Transgressions and sin
Doesn't Clear the Guilty
Visiting iniquities of Fathers on Children to fourth generations.
Can you believe that this is our LORD, Our God. This is His character. We serve and worship and amazing wonderful God, who has the character of none other.
I think sometimes we have a skewed view of God; however, it's because we related to Him in our humanity. Take a look at the List I've compiled and see if you will see the Lord in a complete new light or renewed perspective.
God is good.
