Just needed a bit of a noise break. I don’t know if it’s me or just my kiddos but this week has been a challenge for noise and questions. Finally, I need a bit of retreat. I realized that i hadn’t had any real quiet moments for myself in awhile and it wad desperately needed. I am a desperate house mommy who need a reprieve.
Well, off I went on my way not knowing where I would go or where I would turn first. Do I go grab one of those delicious somethings from a bakery, coffee house, or local fast food? I had to grab something. A picture came into my mind of a coffee house close to the Ocean. It was calling to me. I walked in and ordered what I thought was something normal until I got questioned about my order. (Okay now do I not make sense to the world having been only around little ones? I began to wonder) Let’s try this again. To the barista, asked me a simple question, “How you doin” My reply, “Just glad to be out.” She mumbled over some other comments but unfortunately I couldn’t make it out. So three times I said, “HUU, Huu, Huu” (now I was really feeling like a stranger here in society) Finally, I said, what did you say? Nothing just to “get this lady her drink.” “Oh” I laughter politely, “yeah, I just left my husband and kids.” She stopped and looked at me. My mouth dropped thinking, “did I just say that.” “NO, no I didn’t just leave my husband and kids like for good I mean not like forever, you know I just…” She finished my words, “you mean like a little break for yourself.” “yeah” I said, “yes, that’s it.” Finally she said, “This girl needs more than this drink, she needs a shot of caffeine. Have a good time” Yes, it’s true I probably would have benefited from a shot but I choice a tea and that was alright with me. Wow!!! I truly needed this break.
“Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while” Jesus said to His disciples Mark 6:31 Why? Because they were so busy that they didn’t have a chance to eat. Have you ever felt that way?
I just love Jesus and I love the examples He gave to us.
Moms we need too. We have too. Okay, In my opinion it’s a must.
Taking some moments for yourself isn’t wrong, it’s right and needful. It gets very busy being mom. God doesn’t expect us not to refresh and rejuvenate, HE wants us too.
So after a few sips of my drink and a fun scone, I was on my way to the “playa”. The beach was awesome. The sounds of the waves crashing on the shore, the sounds of little ones playing on the sand below and feeling the welcomed breeze on my face, brought my heart and mind down many octaves. I could breath, see, hear, think more clearly.
I realized I was just over worked, under paid, but loving my life just as it is (well, at that moment of peace that is)
Do yourself a huge favor, give yourself a hug and get away to a quiet place, just you and God and see how He might just rejuvenate your soul?
Oh great someone just sat next to me…. Where’s my evangelist husband when you need him. Okay God if you are willing, you can open this door.
Enjoy the journey little mommas.
