Tis the Season to be Jolly little bakers at home.
I don't know about you but these Christmas traditions of baking were birthed in my childhood. It's a tradition of Sweetness that I so enjoy passing on to my children. I can remember first doing cooking cutting and decorating, then as I got older I was able to help with making the dough. Finally, as a mommy, I am doing all the steps and enjoying watching my little ones eager to help just as I was.
This year we made sugar cookies, ginger bread cookies, cinnamon rolls, and chocolate cupcakes with sprinkles. We also put together a ginger bread house which my kids devoured.(not picture worthy)
In the midst of the hustle and bustle, I sent my dad this picture. He commented "Betty Crocker" which I responded no "Betty Quacker".
Sometimes in all of this, things get a little out of hand. Flour goes flying, sugar sprinkles are flung across the kitchen and busy bakers burn their fingers on hot cookie sheets. We have the occasional fight over who is going to use what cookie cutter and a shed of tears because brother ate out of her candy bowl. Reality is sometimes the process is not so jolly. But hang in there.
In those moments of chaos, just sit back and remember we are making lasting legacies.
It's totally worth it all; clean up and all.
Do you have a tradition during Christmas time? Share it with me, I would love to hear.
Enjoy this Christmas Season with all the craziness as wonderful winter memories are being made.
Blessings.
