Life is so funny. Lately, I've been feeling that my primary word is "No". No to sweets, no to media, no to buying at the store, no to this no to that. Sometimes, the kids get it and sometimes they just don't. Repeating myself 100 times on the same or similar issues, was really driving me crazy the other week. So I pulled out my secret weapon: Subliminal T-shirt.
It was hilarious. Not only for me, because I was trying to keep the atmosphere in my home light and happy, but for my family who were trying to figure this shirt out.
My 9 year old just rolled her eyes and muttered, "Mawm" and walked away.
My 6 year old, kept looking at it saying, N-O, N-O, N-O. "Awe mom," he said when he figured it out, "That's not funny." He's the one that usually get this answer. "That's a lot of no's," he walked away with his head down.
My 4 year old, on the other hand, kept looking and pointing to the letters saying, "there's a lot of letters, mommy". She hadn't a clue.
The best is when my husband walked in the room. No, I didn't purposely plan this but it was funny anyway.
"What! Oh, Great, just great", he said with a chagrin. (I figured why not and see if this shirt could do it's trick even on him) Okay, so he wasn't happy about it. I just laughed.
See all messages were conveyed and I didn't have to say a word.
Love it.
I just laughed at all the reactions. Of course, the family wasn't laughing, but I was.
Anyway, it was good for me to laugh.
Finally, the family understood it was just a joke and they all returned to their playful ways.
Sometimes raising the kids, the day fills like a lot of "No-s". IT can fell exhausting at times, and overwhelming. Yet, what I've learned is to try to work in a few yes and smiles.
Keep the laughter, Keep the fun.
It was all taken in good humor, but just one of these days I might pull my secret weapon shirt out again and mean business, I mean it :).
Do you think they will get it?
I don't know.
Tip:If you feel your days are overwhelmed with No's sometimes just change the phrase might help.
Instead of NO- say not right now.
Instead of NO-we already did or ate ....
Instead of NO- I will think about it.
Instead of NO- Ask your dad LOL
Anyway, I hope this helps.
Blessings.
