It was hard for me to get away from my daily routine as mom. In fact it took me 8 years, to go on my first overnighter away from my family (my kids were 8, 6, 4). I remember calling the kids and they were all hysterically crying. It was such a heart wrenching feeling, yet I knew that I really needed the break.
There is just a time and place for mommy to go and get refreshed.
Well, as the first overnighter was just that an overnighter. My girlfriend who I went with wanted to return the next day. We had shopped and ate and were poolside. It was just the type of get away I needed. It wasn't too long nor too short.
The kids were overjoyed to see me return and I was happy to hold them in my arms.
I honestly think it is good for a mommy to get out every once in a while. It might not be an overnighter, but break away just to get quiet peace of mind every so often and get refreshed.
This year my kids being (9, 7, 5) I left them for more than just an overnighter; I actually flew away.
Yip and the funny thing about it (maybe because of their ages) it was a lot smoother of a transition.
(Although my oldest cried the most for me, the others were fine with me leaving) In fact, they all were such good helpers back at home, it secured me to know they were going to be okay without my for a few days.
This trip was a trip to get trained on spiritual counseling. Although, I went to learn on improving the way I help in our ministry, it ended up helping me to be a better person and a better mom. I so enjoyed the conference and I encourage you to check out the ministry's website for amazing tools to help bring healing and transformation to yourself and your loved ones.

I do have to say I was thankful that I have Facetime and was able to share with my kids in the moment we went to the State Capital.

I was especially Thankful for my BIG WELCOME HOME
So I encourage any mom that has an opportunity to go and get refreshed: do so. (Keep in mind the ages of your children and the dynamics and be sensitive to what timing with be best for the kids and especially your husband)
