It's a funny thing how we can stumble upon treasures so unexpectedly. Today, I was just searching out Audio Books when I saw a website for Free ones. I went to the kids section naturally, because that is what so much of my life is about these days, and I came across The Treasure Chest of my Bookhouse by Olive Beaupre MILLER (1883 - 1968). Well, as I was scrolling down the list of poems and stories available to hear for free, I came across poems I was read too as a child. It was crazy how I began even to recite some lines from those poems I heard and learned so long ago. Wow, those were deep in my memory bank.
As my children gathered nearer to me, I started the story by Tolstoy. Funny because the title grabbed my attention and then the last name of the author: Tolstoy. I flashed back to my grandpa's and grandma's dog that I grew up with since I was a baby, He was named Tolstoy. So I knew I had to listen to this one.
Boy was I glad I did. This story is all about Matthew 25: 36 &45
‘I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.'
My kids and I so enjoyed this story of seeing Christ in people of everyday situations. I was reminded to receive people with the eyes of Christ. After our listening, this lead into a discussion of how we need to be careful of how we see people and talk about them. (Good Lessons Learned).
Sometimes life can really just surprise you as you embark on New Adventures. I never thought just researching about Audio Books would afford me a wonderful journey with my children.
My encouragement for you is to Keep Doing New Things in your journey; you never know what you might discover.
Honestly, Now I think I know why my gramps dog was called Tolstoy (I always thought that was an interesting name to call a dog.)
