Okay, so I know you aren't all worship leaders out there, yet you don't have to perform on stage to worship together. Just recently, I had my kiddos sing Jesus loves me before we played (no this isn't my husband, this is Juan our friend. My husband is taking the picture. One day I hope to have my hubby up there with us.) and it just started the set with sweet children's praise.
When I think about it, some of the most blessed times we have as a family is worshiping together. Whether it's by driving in the car with music cd's, or putting on worship in your house, or together at church in a worship service, worship is so bonding for a family.
First of all, you are together. That is huge in itself. Being together, doing things as a family is so important. Even if it's not for worship, maybe it's a being on a sports team together, or participating in an outreach together, looking for ways the family can do things together helps to keep a strong family bond. (Think back to your fondest memories as a kid. Were any memories with all the family together? I know that can be hard but I do think of holidays when we were all together. I also think of vacations were we were together.Some of those times were my favorite because we were simple together.)
Secondly, as you are together worshiping, the children are learning how to worship and the importance of worship. If mom and dad are worshiping it must be important. I can remember many times when I would catch my kids staring at me watching me worship. I just smile. If I am crying with God's joy, I will just whisper that they are "happy tears". Kids are watching.
Lastly, in this blog but certainly not the only reasons to worship, you are entering the throne as a family before the Lord. I think it's so awesome that the Lords watches us from heaven looking at those who honor Him. I want to be a family that pleases God together. Don't you?
From my personal experience, It is such a joy to have my children sing together with me in worship. I can't express it, it's just a beautiful thing.
For those who children aren't walking with the Lord, keep praying and keep seeking God on their behaves. You just never know when you might just be singing together again.
