To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.
LORD, You have been favorable to Your land;
You have brought back the captivity of Jacob.
Psa 85:2
You have forgiven the iniquity of Your people;
You have covered all their sin. Selah
Psa 85:3
You have taken away all Your wrath;
You have turned from the fierceness of Your anger.
Psa 85:4
Restore us, O God of our salvation,
And cause Your anger toward us to cease.
Psa 85:5
Will You be angry with us forever?
Will You prolong Your anger to all generations?
Psa 85:6
Will You not revive us again,
That Your people may rejoice in You?
Psa 85:7
Show us Your mercy, LORD,
And grant us Your salvation.
Psa 85:8
I will hear what God the LORD will speak,
For He will speak peace
To His people and to His saints;
But let them not turn back to folly.
Psa 85:9
Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him,
That glory may dwell in our land.
Psa 85:10
Mercy and truth have met together;
Righteousness and peace have kissed.
Psa 85:11
Truth shall spring out of the earth,
And righteousness shall look down from heaven.
Psa 85:12
Yes, the LORD will give what is good;
And our land will yield its increase.
Psa 85:13
Righteousness will go before Him,
And shall make His footsteps our pathway.

My thoughts on this Psalm
It's been awhile since I've written in this blog area, but I am excited to get back to it.
I really want to finish this soon.
The Psalms are very inspiring and every one has a special message and nugget about God to glean from.
This Psalm especially has one of my favorite verses. Can you guess which one? I will tell you later.
Let's look at this a little bit deeper.
First of all it's another Psalm to be put to music by the sons of Korah.
Nothing like getting lyrics put to some score of music. I can't wait in heaven to hear just what these sounded like back in the day.
Anyway, let's keep going.
It's a psalm of Restoration.
vs 1-3 I counted 6 times it says to God, "You Have." It's so good to remember what God has done in our lives isn't it. Doesn't that help you when you are feeling a bit nervous for what lies ahead? I know it does for me.
vs 4-7 Here is the asking of Restoration, and that God's anger would cease. No one what's to be on the side of getting God angry with them. God does discipline His children but is wrath is reserved for those who do not fear Him.
We who have receive Christ are free to receive God's mercy. Praise the Lord
vs 8 I like that the Psalmist says they will "hear what God will speak." I find too often, we don't give God a place to speak to us or that we really truly wait to hear from God. I think if we could really allot time out just to hear from God, our hearts would really be at peace because we are trusting completely in Him.
Oh, I need to hear from God.
vs 10 I have always loved this verse. Mercy, Truth, Righteousness and Peace are all attributes of God. They are ever bound in Him. Perfectly orchestrated, in perfect harmony with one another. God is so good.
vs 13 His foots our pathway. Yes Amen. I want to be at the very footprints of Jesus. To Walk where He walks, to be close to go where He goes. Amen.
