Why do You stand afar off, O LORD?
Why do You hide in times of trouble?
Psa 10:2
The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor;
Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised.
Psa 10:3
For the wicked boasts of his heart’s desire;
He blesses the greedy and renounces the LORD.
Psa 10:4
The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God;
God is in none of his thoughts.
Psa 10:5
His ways are always prospering;
Your judgments are far above, out of his sight;
As for all his enemies, he sneers at them.
Psa 10:6
He has said in his heart, “I shall not be moved;
I shall never be in adversity.”
Psa 10:7
His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression;
Under his tongue is trouble and iniquity.
Psa 10:8
He sits in the lurking places of the villages;
In the secret places he murders the innocent;
His eyes are secretly fixed on the helpless.
Psa 10:9
He lies in wait secretly, as a lion in his den;
He lies in wait to catch the poor;
He catches the poor when he draws him into his net.
Psa 10:10
So he crouches, he lies low,
That the helpless may fall by his strength.
Psa 10:11
He has said in his heart,
“God has forgotten;
He hides His face;
He will never see.”
Psa 10:12
Arise, O LORD!
O God, lift up Your hand!
Do not forget the humble.
Psa 10:13
Why do the wicked renounce God?
He has said in his heart,
“You will not require an account.”
Psa 10:14
But You have seen, for You observe trouble and grief,
To repay it by Your hand.
The helpless commits himself to You;
You are the helper of the fatherless.
Psa 10:15
Break the arm of the wicked and the evil man;
Seek out his wickedness until You find none.
Psa 10:16
The LORD is King forever and ever;
The nations have perished out of His land.
Psa 10:17
LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble;
You will prepare their heart;
You will cause Your ear to hear,
Psa 10:18
To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed,
That the man of the earth may oppress no more.
Why do You hide in times of trouble?

My Thoughts
This is such a Psalm of the boastful and prideful man. I tell you the world is full of these kind of attitudes. From groups that claim the title "Pride" to men who sit in high positions making legislature that reflects arrogance and renounce God in their minds.
My husband is an evangelist and is confronted all the time with people that are just repulsed by the name of God. It's ironic, here people say they don't believe in God, but get so firery mad when you talk about Him, goes to show you God is real and people just suppress the truth in their own hearts.
Well last night my kids got to go evangelizing with their daddy. They brought their "evangelism cube" that shares the steps of the gospel. It was going great, their was a Pastor there helping them talk to people after and a couple actually received the Lord after my daughter shared the cube.
Wow!! we were all excited until we ran into one of these people who didn't want God.
My son was sharing with this man and wife and when my son said the word "sin", all was lost. I saw the wife's face contort and the man started to walk away. My husband asked them a question, and the man went irate.
I quickly walked my kids out of the situation and within a few minutes the guy was gone.
In today's world, there are many people that don't want God in their minds. They do all they can to keep from hearing about God, even to a point of oppressing people. They think (verse 13) that they will not be judged for their actions and think that God is taking it into account.
Not so.
(Verse 18)
To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed,
That the man of the earth may oppress no more.
God is the righteous Judge, who will defend, who will take action, who will have the final say.
There is coming a day, Great Tribulation, as the Bible speaks about in Revelation. It's a time of horrible catastrophe that will be world wide. It's a time that God will start to judge the Earth for it's wickedness.
If you have been oppressed, fear not, God will defend for you.
If you have been one suppressing the truth of God, let God cleanse you of your sins. Not coming to the truth and having your sins forgiven is an eternal choice. May you see that God is real, and that God loves you so much that He gave is life for you. No matter what you've done, God is able and eager to forgive.
Put your trust in Him today, whether for Defense or Deliver.
Blessings
