To the Chief Musician. Set to “The Deer of the Dawn.”fn A Psalm of David.
My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?
Why are You so far from helping Me,
And from the words of My groaning?
Psa 22:2
O My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear;
And in the night season, and am not silent.
Psa 22:3
But You are holy,
Enthroned in the praises of Israel.
Psa 22:4
Our fathers trusted in You;
They trusted, and You delivered them.
Psa 22:5
They cried to You, and were delivered;
They trusted in You, and were not ashamed.
Psa 22:6
But I am a worm, and no man;
A reproach of men, and despised by the people.
Psa 22:7
All those who see Me ridicule Me;
They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
Psa 22:8
“He trustedfn in the LORD, let Him rescue Him;
Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!”
Psa 22:9
But You are He who took Me out of the womb;
You made Me trust while on My mother’s breasts.
Psa 22:10
I was cast upon You from birth.
From My mother’s womb
You have been My God.
Psa 22:11
Be not far from Me,
For trouble is near;
For there is none to help.
Psa 22:12
Many bulls have surrounded Me;
Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled Me.
Psa 22:13
They gape at Me with their mouths,
Like a raging and roaring lion.
Psa 22:14
I am poured out like water,
And all My bones are out of joint;
My heart is like wax;
It has melted within Me.
Psa 22:15
My strength is dried up like a potsherd,
And My tongue clings to My jaws;
You have brought Me to the dust of death.
Psa 22:16
For dogs have surrounded Me;
The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me.
They piercedfn My hands and My feet;
Psa 22:17
I can count all My bones.
They look and stare at Me.
Psa 22:18
They divide My garments among them,
And for My clothing they cast lots.
Psa 22:19
But You, O LORD, do not be far from Me;
O My Strength, hasten to help Me!
Psa 22:20
Deliver Me from the sword,
My precious life from the power of the dog.
Psa 22:21
Save Me from the lion’s mouth
And from the horns of the wild oxen!
You have answered Me.
Psa 22:22
I will declare Your name to My brethren;
In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.
Psa 22:23
You who fear the LORD, praise Him!
All you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him,
And fear Him, all you offspring of Israel!
Psa 22:24
For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted;
Nor has He hidden His face from Him;
But when He cried to Him, He heard.
Psa 22:25
My praise shall be of You in the great assembly;
I will pay My vows before those who fear Him.
Psa 22:26
The poor shall eat and be satisfied;
Those who seek Him will praise the LORD.
Let your heart live forever!
Psa 22:27
All the ends of the world
Shall remember and turn to the LORD,
And all the families of the nations
Shall worship before You.fn
Psa 22:28
For the kingdom is the LORD’s,
And He rules over the nations.
Psa 22:29
All the prosperous of the earth
Shall eat and worship;
All those who go down to the dust
Shall bow before Him,
Even he who cannot keep himself alive.
Psa 22:30
A posterity shall serve Him.
It will be recounted of the Lord to the next generation,
Psa 22:31
They will come and declare His righteousness to a people who will be born,
That He has done this.

My Thoughts
Amazing.
"Over 1,000 years before crucifixion was invented, David prophetically spoke of Jesus' death." (Smith, Charles)
Impressive again on the Bible's constance.
Why is the study of the crucifixion so important to the Christian walk?
I believe ,because we really can't understand the Grace and Love of God until we really understand what it meant to be spared from the death of sin. The agony that God went through to spare us from eternal judgement should hopefully provoke a sincere heart of appreciation for Him.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed Isaiah 53:5
Recap: For our, for our, for our and we are. It's because we are sinners and needed a Savior that's why He allowed Himself to be crucified. The results: We are healed. Amen
Now, when He says He loves Me and Your, you show know absolutely, emphatically without any hesitation that He does. Why? because He demonstrated it so vividly for us.
Isaiah 53:6
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all
Not only was the physical suffering so excruciation, the spiritual element was most drastic. Jesus, who was completely sinless his entire life, bore every sin of every person ever born on His shoulders. Completely perfect took the punishment of every sin. Amazing.
Look at some of the descriptions. I've made a list to look at it differently. (I like lists they help me)
Forsaken
A worm
Reproached
Despised
Ridicule
Bones out of Joint
Poured out like water
Heart is like waxed
No strength
Tongue clings to jaws
Dust to Death
Wicked enclosed
Pierced in hands and feet
(You could study Isaiah 53 as well to get more descriptions of His sufferings)
After it was all said and done, then came the VICTORY.
Verse 27
All the ends of the world
Shall remember and turn to the LORD,
And all the families of the nations
Shall worship before You.
One day every knee is going to bend and every tongue is going to confess that Jesus is LORD. (Phil 2:10)
Jesus conquered Death so we don't have to face it's wrath and judgement. Does that just bring you to a heart of thankfulness? I know it does for me.
Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so....
No Greater Love, No Greater Grace, No Greater Mercy given because He suffered as He did.
Oh, Know the Grace and Love deeper in your hearts today.
May this Psalm be one you run to if you should ever forget just how much you are loved.
Amen
