To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD.
An oracle within my heart concerning the transgression of the wicked:
There is no fear of God before his eyes.
Psa 36:2
For he flatters himself in his own eyes,
When he finds out his iniquity and when he hates.
Psa 36:3
The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit;
He has ceased to be wise and to do good.
Psa 36:4
He devises wickedness on his bed;
He sets himself in a way that is not good;
He does not abhor evil.
Psa 36:5
Your mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
Psa 36:6
Your righteousness is like the great mountains;
Your judgments are a great deep;
O LORD, You preserve man and beast.
Psa 36:7
How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!
Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.
Psa 36:8
They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house,
And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.
Psa 36:9
For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.
Psa 36:10
Oh, continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You,
And Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
Psa 36:11
Let not the foot of pride come against me,
And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
Psa 36:12
There the workers of iniquity have fallen;
They have been cast down and are not able to rise.

My Thoughts
Here is the contrast between the heart of the wicked verse the righteous God.
Verse 1
There is no fear of God before his eyes.
Can you see that in some today?
I see so many groups of people that parade themselves in their sin. They obviously don't have the fear of God in their lives. Like verse 2
For he flatters himself in his own eyes,
When he finds out his iniquity and when he hates.
They flatter themselves in their sin. The are bold about it and flaunt it. It's completely heart breaking. To be puffed up with sin is such an unhealthy place to be.
Romans 6:23
"The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord."
What a contrast: Death or Life. Sin or Gift. What is your choice?
What is the fear of the Lord?
Prov 16:6
Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for; through the fear ofthe LORD evil is avoided.
It's to hate those things that God hates.
For people that aren't even think about whether their actions please or displease the Lord, they are void of the fear of God. They are living an Adamic life of self. God wants to atone and forgive their sin with His love, yet often people don't want to avoid the sin God wants them too. So sad.
Verse 4
He devises wickedness on his bed;
He sets himself in a way that is not good;
He does not abhor evil.
Again they do not abhor evil. Rather, today people embrace evil.
Isaiah warned us about this mentality of the last days.
Isaiah 5:20
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
We need to see evil for what it is and get God's heart about it.
Here is the contrast from evil to God.
This is so like David. He will spend time talking about wicked, but then he completely praises God after and through his writings. Let's spend more time on God then on wickedness. Let's continue to bring God into every aspect of our lives, and not allow ourselves to be focused on the present darkness. I think if you engage in a conversation of the evils of today, end it with prayer. Bring it back around to the things of the Lord so that your hearts are discouraged but encouraged about who God is and what He is doing. He has always been in control and He is ever faithful.
Verses (5-10) Deal with God's wonderful works to us His people.
What a contrast.
I wish sinners would see God for who He is: loving,faithful, merciful, just and true.
So many people are searching and seeking the fountain of life, and it's found in one place: God.
For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light
You see the only way to be truly clean is to be in Christ. To allow His Spirit to cleanse you of your sin and renew your inner man through His power. That's the only way.
We can spend so much time, energy and money to look and feel good externally, but inside our inward man is perishing. In order to really have the inner beautified, we must be filled with Christ.
Don't get me wrong I love skin care and fun things like that, but it truly the inward beauty that will shine brighter as the our years wax on. LOL
I like the last part of that verse: we see light in His light. I could go on about light and it's properties but just to know that when we are in the Light of God, we see clearly. His light is glorious!!! That's why it's so important to read the Word of God: it's a light to illuminate our path.
This Psalm ends with a prayer that I think we all need to be praying.
Psa 36:11
Let not the foot of pride come against me,
And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
I think it's two fold. First, that we don't allow pride in our hearts. We also need to keep a heart
that is right before God, so that we don't fall into the temptation to be prideful and wicked
in life. Secondly, I think to pray that we don't fall into the hands of the wicked. I like that because there are a lot of wicked groups out there. The more the days wax on it seems that evil is becoming more prevalent and accepted. I don't want to have the wicked drive me or my family; I want only to be driven by the Lord.
I really see the persecution of Christians arising in these days. I wonder just how long God is going to allow these thing to continue until He raptures us out of here. In the mean time, we need to keep ourselves in the Love of God and continue to pray a shield of protection for our families and our lives.
God is good and His ways are pure.
Keep encouraging yourselves in God; He loves you.
Blessings.
