Psa 39:1
To the Chief Musician. To Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.
I said, “I will guard my ways,
Lest I sin with my tongue;
I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle,
While the wicked are before me.”
Psa 39:2
I was mute with silence,
I held my peace even from good;
And my sorrow was stirred up.
Psa 39:3
My heart was hot within me;
While I was musing, the fire burned.
Then I spoke with my tongue:
Psa 39:4
“LORD, make me to know my end,
And what is the measure of my days,
That I may know how frail I am.
Psa 39:5
Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths,
And my age is as nothing before You;
Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor. Selah
Psa 39:6
Surely every man walks about like a shadow;
Surely they busy themselves in vain;
He heaps up riches,
And does not know who will gather them.
Psa 39:7
“And now, Lord, what do I wait for?
My hope is in You.
Psa 39:8
Deliver me from all my transgressions;
Do not make me the reproach of the foolish.
Psa 39:9
I was mute, I did not open my mouth,
Because it was You who did it.
Psa 39:10
Remove Your plague from me;
I am consumed by the blow of Your hand.
Psa 39:11
When with rebukes You correct man for iniquity,
You make his beauty melt away like a moth;
Surely every man is vapor. Selah
Psa 39:12
“Hear my prayer, O LORD,
And give ear to my cry;
Do not be silent at my tears;
For I am a stranger with You,
A sojourner, as all my fathers were.
Psa 39:13
Remove Your gaze from me, that I may regain strength,
Before I go away and am no more.”

Possibly, Right?

My Thoughts
David talks about life and the brevity of it.
Anyone who had lost a loved one, understands Davids heart here.
“LORD, make me to know my end,
And what is the measure of my days,
That I may know how frail I am.
Life is a vapor or translated vanity here (verse 5)
Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.
Life is so short. Human life is so fragile.
It's hard to talk about life and death sometimes.
Death can come so unexpectedly. I've known children who have died, young adults who have passed, and the elderly. On the other hand, I know those who are old and still going strong. In fact, our neighbor is 93 and my friends grandma is 91 and my grandma is 86. Why is some die young and some old? Like my grandma dying at 70 and my gramps at 86.
The interesting part of life is that you don't know how long you have here.
Heb 9:27 — And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Trees live longer then man. The sun's life is faithfully rising since creation. So what about mankind?
Although it's a mystery of the days we will have here, they are leading to eternity.
So how ought we to live?
I pray that you'll want to live your life for Jesus. That's were life's meaning is tangible. In Christ, we understand why we are here on this Earth.
(Rev 4:11)
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
We were created to please the Lord.
This concept changed my life. I live my life aiming to please the Lord. Then when it is over on the Earth, eternal life begins.
This Earth may seem so frail and fragile, yet it is eternal. No matter what you do for work, pleasure, or hobby, it's only what you do with a heart for Christ that will live on.
You know heaven is real. People are living vibrant lives up there.
A friend encouraged me the other day. Her friend's father was dying on his death bed, and just before he died, he said, "Oh there is Pastor Chuck."
I can't tell you how that ministered to my heart. My gramps is more alive then ever on the other side.
I want to do all I can in this life to affect my future homeland.
You can too. Just commit your lives to Christ and live for him.
Unfortunately, David didn't have full understanding of heaven as we did.
Life is more meaningful with Christ at the center.
Vanity is here, but not there.
Live everyday for Jesus and you will have victory here on Earth and in heaven.
Blessings.
