Psa 40:1
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.
I waited patiently for the LORD;
And He inclined to me,
And heard my cry.
Psa 40:2
He also brought me up out of a horrible pit,
Out of the miry clay,
And set my feet upon a rock,
And established my steps.
Psa 40:3
He has put a new song in my mouth--
Praise to our God;
Many will see it and fear,
And will trust in the LORD.
Psa 40:4
Blessed is that man who makes the LORD his trust,
And does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
Psa 40:5
Many, O LORD my God, are Your wonderful works
Which You have done;
And Your thoughts toward us
Cannot be recounted to You in order;
If I would declare and speak of them,
They are more than can be numbered.
Psa 40:6
Sacrifice and offering You did not desire;
My ears You have opened.
Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require.
Psa 40:7
Then I said, “Behold, I come;
In the scroll of the book it is written of me.
Psa 40:8
I delight to do Your will, O my God,
And Your law is within my heart.”
Psa 40:9
I have proclaimed the good news of righteousness
In the great assembly;
Indeed, I do not restrain my lips,
O LORD, You Yourself know.
Psa 40:10
I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart;
I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation;
I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth
From the great assembly.
Psa 40:11
Do not withhold Your tender mercies from me, O LORD;
Let Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserve me.
Psa 40:12
For innumerable evils have surrounded me;
My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up;
They are more than the hairs of my head;
Therefore my heart fails me.
Psa 40:13
Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me;
O LORD, make haste to help me!
Psa 40:14
Let them be ashamed and brought to mutual confusion
Who seek to destroy my life;
Let them be driven backward and brought to dishonor
Who wish me evil.
Psa 40:15
Let them be confounded because of their shame,
Who say to me, “Aha, aha!”
Psa 40:16
Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;
Let such as love Your salvation say continually,
“The LORD be magnified!”
Psa 40:17
But I am poor and needy;
Yet the LORD thinks upon me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
Do not delay, O my God

My Thoughts
Messianic Psalm here because it's quoted in the New Testament in Hebrews.
Referring to Psalm 40:6-8
Here is where it is quoted.
Heb 10:7-9)
Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come--
In the volume of the book it is written of Me--
To do Your will, O God.’ ”
Previously saying, “Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the law),
then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.”
He takes away the first that He may establish the second.
What this is showing is that Jesus was the sacrifice for sin. It wasn't the sacrifices of bulls (because it was only temporary bandaid for sin and they were a foreshadowing of Jesus on the cross) that God desired but sending His son to die for the world. The only way sin could be atoned for was with the death of Jesus. That's why the cross is so important for those of us who believe.
Amen.
But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God (Hebrews 10:12)
Jesus Paid it All. Jesus is Alive. His resurrection conquered death. His ascension showed His Kingship. Then, He went to heaven and took His rightful place as Redeemer of the World. Because of what Jesus did, we now have access to God through Jesus. He opened the door to have a personal relationship with Him. No longer strangers, but children of God.
No longer are we bound to a written law, but a fleshly law that God wrote on our hearts. No longer do we need a priest to talk to God, we have the access to our Great High Priest: Jesus.
The cross brought access to the throne room and redefining our relationship with God: abba, daddy.
We have access to heaven 24/7 just by simply talking to God.
That's my kind of access.
Being the first granddaughter of a prominent preacher, I had access to all kinds of places. It was normal for me to be in the VIP areas. It's what I knew because gramps would take me all over with him. I loved my gramps and wanted just to spend as much time with him, and in return I was allowed these kind of privileges. However, since he's past, I don't have access anymore. What a difference.
But you know, we have even a greater One to have access to: God. He is there for us at all times. We don't need a special badge, a special pass, or anything, we just need Jesus.
Cultivate your relationship with Him today.
I also like how David remind us in verse 5 that God is thinking about us so much.That's a beautiful thing to know that God is thinking about you. A lot!!!
I like verse 4a
Blessed is that man who makes the LORD his trust,
Blessed can be reread Oh how happy. I like that. You want to be happy today, make the Lord your trust. Trust in the Lord at all times. Trust Him.
IF you are trusting Him for your salvation then trust Him for everything else.
If you have never trusted in Him for salvation, I encourage you to ask God to forgive you of your sin and to cleanse your heart and mind, and receive His free gift of salvation. Trust in Him for your eternal life and He will guide you in this present life.
I don't know what better day to do that then today.
Get your VIP access to heaven by believing in the Lord Jesus.
And if you have your pass,
Use it to gain the ear of the Lord for whatever you are going through.
Blessings
