To the Chief Musician. A Contemplationfn of David when Doeg the Edomite went and told Saul, and said to him, “David has gone to the house of Ahimelech.”
Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man?
The goodness of God endures continually.
Psa 52:2
Your tongue devises destruction,
Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
Psa 52:3
You love evil more than good,
Lying rather than speaking righteousness. Selah
Psa 52:4
You love all devouring words,
You deceitful tongue.
Psa 52:5
God shall likewise destroy you forever;
He shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place,
And uproot you from the land of the living. Selah
Psa 52:6
The righteous also shall see and fear,
And shall laugh at him, saying,
Psa 52:7
“Here is the man who did not make God his strength,
But trusted in the abundance of his riches,
And strengthened himself in his wickedness.”
Psa 52:8
But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God;
I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever.
Psa 52:9
I will praise You forever,
Because You have done it;
And in the presence of Your saints
I will wait on Your name, for it is good.

Your Thoughts
1.Looking over this Psalm, was there a particular verse that you liked?
Read that verse over again.
It could even be a phrase.
No matter if it's one verse, one phrase, or one single word, Stop and think
about it for just a minute.
2. Why do you think you like it?
Have you been experiencing something in your life that resonated with this verse?
Possibly, Right?
3. That's the Word speaking to you. Maybe write it down. Turn it into a prayer and/or praise.
4. Pray and Thank God for this revelation and ask Him to make it clear how He wants to use it in your life.
5. Share what God spoke to you with someone. Let others be blessed too.

My Thoughts
David is writing about a time where the wicked Doeg had spied on David and told Saul where David was fleeing to. On this journey, Saul wanted to kill the priests who helped David, so Doeg was the only one how would do such a wicked thing. He killed 85 men that day.
David's heart was troubled because of it, and birthed this Psalm.
You can see how David committed this evil person to God, and said (verse 5)
God shall likewise destroy you forever;
He shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place,
And uproot you from the land of the living. Selah
God is a just God, and David relied on God's justice to deal with evilness. Good idea.
"Vengence is Mine says the Lord". Give God all those people that have hurt you. Watch Him be Justice for you.
Anyway, what really blessed me is the verse on being like a tree.
The word tree occurs over 200 times in the Bible. I guess God likes trees too.
A few times in the Bible we have the metaphor of a being like a tree, usually contrasting
with righteous verses wicked. Same here. Just after talking about Doeg wickedness David writes:
But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God;
I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever.
David is saying that he is going to do what is right. He is going to be faithful to remain with the Lord forever. I like that. No matter what happens David is planted in the things of God.
Do you love trees? I do. There are so many types and varieties. I have to say the maple tree is my favorite. I just love all the colorful leaves it produces in fall. I love the trees that produce fruit, oranges, apples, maple syrup, pears and more.
Well, the tree in scripture is representative of strength and firm foundation and abundance.
Here are a few other verses to look over.
Psalm 1
He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper
Psalm 92:12
The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree,
He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Song of Solomon 2:3
The Shulamite
Like an apple tree among the trees of the woods,
So is my beloved among the sons.
I sat down in his shade with great delight,
And his fruit was sweet to my taste.
Jeremiah 17:8
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fearfn when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
Matthew 7:17
“Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
As we trust in the Lord and wait on Him, He will make us like trees firmly planted and full of fruit. As we continue to Abide in the Lord, you will be strengthened from the inside out.
May we continue to seek the Lord, continue to trust Him, we will be blessed.
What kind of fruit are your bearing today?
Perhaps, we need to spend more time Him. Perhaps, we
need to take a few moments to sit and be refreshed by Him.
In doing so, I pray you will find rest, refreshment and encouragement to
face your day with the strength of a cedar tree. (Trying my hand at a metaphor)
Anyway, be blessed. Next time you are by a tree, think of how strong it is
and praise the Lord for His continuing strength in our lives.
Isaiah 55:12
“For you shall go out with joy,
And be led out with peace;
The mountains and the hills
Shall break forth into singing before you,
And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
