To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments.fn A Contemplationfn of David when the Ziphites went and said to Saul, “Is David not hiding with us?”
Save me, O God, by Your name,
And vindicate me by Your strength.
Psa 54:2
Hear my prayer, O God;
Give ear to the words of my mouth.
Psa 54:3
For strangers have risen up against me,
And oppressors have sought after my life;
They have not set God before them. Selah
Psa 54:4
Behold, God is my helper;
The Lord is with those who uphold my life.
Psa 54:5
He will repay my enemies for their evil.
Cut them off in Your truth.
Psa 54:6
I will freely sacrifice to You;
I will praise Your name, O LORD, for it is good.
Psa 54:7
For He has delivered me out of all trouble;
And my eye has seen its desire upon my enemies.
Save me, O God, by Your name,
And vindicate me by Your strength.

My Thoughts
1 Samuel 23:19 is the inspiration of the Psalm.
It was when David was betrayed. What a horrible thing it is to be betrayed. It's really a shocker. I personally experienced something of that nature and boy it really caught me off guard.
Yet what I love about David, He always brings his calamities to praise. I don't know if you've learned to do this, but it something worth considering in such hard times. Praise has the ability to give you the strength to endure, hope to persevere, and peace in the midst of the storm. Why? Because we focus on God not on our situation. Anytime you look at something greater then yourself(God), you can be empowered. For example: David when he faced Goliath, came in the Name of the Lord. When Moses approached Pharaoh, he went with God's Words. Gideon defeated an army, by God's strength and God's strategies. Awesome.
When I went through what I did, It took awhile to praise Him. Yet I found such freedom in relinquishing the situation to the Lord and being free.
Verse 4
Behold, God is my helper;
The Lord is with those who uphold my life.
Seeing our life in God's hands is a wonderful freeing experience. When we understand that God has called our every days before they were written, helps me to know that no matter what I am enduring God has already been there. God is the one sustaining our life. He holds our breath in His hands. He knows the exact days of our lives. He is acquainted with all our ways. Awesome.
Lately, I've been facing something too great for me. It's been the cause of my lack of time management and now I facing the consequences of this. Boy, do I feel ever defeated by my choices and the way I've been living my life. However, I confess that God is my helper. He is upholding my life, and I know and believe He will guide me into the right way to walk and handle my problems.
I see in the Psalms, time and time again, when David was in a trial, He called out to God. He believed God to be his everything, and He was.
God wants you to rely on Him for everything. From a little boo boo to a huge battle with whatever, no problem is too small not job too big for God to help.
Run to God today, and wait for Him for the guidance.
He is faithful.
Blessings.
