To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. On an eight-stringed harp.fn A Psalm of David.
O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger,
Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure.
Psa 6:2
Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am weak;
O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled.
Psa 6:3
My soul also is greatly troubled;
But You, O LORD—how long?
Psa 6:4
Return, O LORD, deliver me!
Oh, save me for Your mercies’ sake!
Psa 6:5
For in death there is no remembrance of You;
In the grave who will give You thanks?
Psa 6:6
I am weary with my groaning;
All night I make my bed swim;
I drench my couch with my tears.
Psa 6:7
My eye wastes away because of grief;
It grows old because of all my enemies.
Psa 6:8
Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity;
For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.
Psa 6:9
The LORD has heard my supplication;
The LORD will receive my prayer.
Psa 6:10
Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled;
Let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly.
O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger,
Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure.

My Thoughts
This is an interesting Psalm to me because it's a cry of Mercy unto the Lord.
Have you ever been in such a state that you were just overwhelmed with the Holiness and Magnitude of God, and in the light of His purity, you realized just how sinful and impure you are?
I think of the man that Jesus talks about in Luke 18:16 "And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner." Jesus went on to say this about him, "I tell you, this man went down to his house justified ratherthan the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
Friend are you in a state of tears? Do you weep upon your bed because of some sorrow has overtaken you? You are not alone.
The Great News is that "But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved." (Ephs 2:24-26)
HE is rich in Mercy. HE is dripping, overflowing with Grace and Mercy more than all the tears you've ever cried.
Isn't that comforting.
No matter what we've done, God is quick to forgive. He is quick to defend and mighty to save. He loves you.
Vs 9 The LORD will receive my prayer
I love this verse. David (author) is so confident and reassures himself that God will receive his prayer.
We have that same access to the throne room today. There is no being put on hold, waiting for hours listening to some phone music, or being told he's too busy, or to call back. No, the Lord God of Heaven and Earth is attuned to your prayer 24/7 or better yet eternally.
He has received your prayer.
I remember a time being so down and out and overwhelmed how wrong I was being as a Christian. I literally spent a good part of the day face down before the Lord. Tears and tears were flowing as my heart was being poured out to the Lord. It was one of the most tender times that I felt God's presence so strongly by me. I confessed the burdens of my should and I new He was cleansing me deep within. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9) I knew He had heard me, I knew He had forgiven me, and I got up a new person. It was such a life changing experience for me.
I just want to encourage you that no matter what you've done or what's been done to you, God is there to be your Healer. He heals us of sin, heals us of scars, wounds, and hurts from this life.
Allow God that access to your heart to reveal, heal, and renew a right Spirit in you. That's just what David did, he turned this moment of crying out to a song. (Maybe the first country song ever written. Lol just kidding but is sounds like one)
