To the Chief Musician. To Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.
Truly my soul silently waits for God;
From Him comes my salvation.
Psa 62:2
He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be greatly moved.
Psa 62:3
How long will you attack a man?
You shall be slain, all of you,
Like a leaning wall and a tottering fence.
Psa 62:4
They only consult to cast him down from his high position;
They delight in lies;
They bless with their mouth,
But they curse inwardly. Selah
Psa 62:5
My soul, wait silently for God alone,
For my expectation is from Him.
Psa 62:6
He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be moved.
Psa 62:7
In God is my salvation and my glory;
The rock of my strength,
And my refuge, is in God.
Psa 62:8
Trust in Him at all times, you people;
Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah
Psa 62:9
Surely men of low degree are a vapor,
Men of high degree are a lie;
If they are weighed on the scales,
They are altogether lighter than vapor.
Psa 62:10
Do not trust in oppression,
Nor vainly hope in robbery;
If riches increase,
Do not set your heart on them.
Psa 62:11
God has spoken once,
Twice I have heard this:
That power belongs to God.
Psa 62:12
Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy;
For You render to each one according to his work.
Truly my soul silently waits for God;
From Him comes my salvation.

My Thoughts
Verse 1
Truly my soul silently waits for God;
From Him comes my salvation.
Have you ever prayed so hard and so long for something to only find yourself out of words. You get to the end of talking of it all and just take a seat and wait. It doesn't happen to me often that I don't speak but recently it happened. I can remember just being physically exhausted over a situation that I just throw up my hands and said, "I am done" maybe I should have said undone. It was so overwhelming that I had to completely release all thoughts and feelings about the situation to the Lord. I finally got to a point I just had to wait it out.
I struggle to wait silently for the Lord. David said in another Psalm he waited patiently for the Lord. These things are hard to do but so effective and necessary. If you find yourself in that kind of situation, just remind yourself, God is your salvation. Whatever you are concerned about, whatever you are praying about, God knows and cares. God will complete the work in you, let Him have His timing in things to make them beautiful. Just waiting for it is hard.
(Verse 2)
He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be greatly moved.
I like this so much. Jesus is the Rock on which all things exist. I like the word ONLY here. Ultimately, Jesus is the only thing concrete to stand upon. He knows everything thing, sees everything, and works out everything for His plan and purposes. He is completely dependable, infallible, stead fast and sovereign.
David said he shall not be greatly moved. Well, are you being moved emotionally today? Is something trying to move you into perplexity, panic and anxieties? Talk to God about it. Focus on the character of God and remember the One you have entrusted your life too. IF we are trust God for our Salvation, we can trust Him for our Situations.
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. 2 Corinthians 2:14
Did you get that? He always leads us in triumph. What a promise to hold on too!!!
Here David was being lied about. His greatest defense was to be silent, and let God defend for him. I can't help but think of Jesus when He was before the high priest before He was crucified. When false testimony rose up against him look what He did.
"But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, “I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!”Matthew 26:33
What did He need to say, the witnesses were lying and they all knew it. Lies are so heart breaking. So destructive. God hates them. You can be sure God is going to defend for you; let Him. Instead of fighting against all the lies, comity the truth to the Lord and let God be your defense. (That's not to say if someone asks you personally about it that you don't answer them, it's just that you's be spinning your wheels if you thought you could convince everyone otherwise.) The truth will win in the end. Hang in there good soldier, God is with you.
David repeats again in verse 5-6 almost exactly at verses 1-2
My soul, wait silently for God alone,
For my expectation is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be moved.
This time we see that David is looking to God for his expectation. I like that! Look to God for any expectations you have. Entrust your situation to God's hand and let Him lead you to the right path. I know lately, my husband and I have a decision to make. We've been going back and forth with another party on the decisions and it's been a wild ride. Finally, I just throw my hands up and said, "Lord would you please finish this work according to Your plan." Just relinquishing it to God, gave me such freedom. I didn't need to be all wrapped up in the decision, I just need to wait for the answer to come. We are still waiting for the answer, but I believe more now than ever that God is going to do something wonderful.
David grows from "I shall not be greatly moved" to "I shall not be moved". Isn't that awesome. In just a short period of time, He realized he wasn't going to let the situation move him. Why?
I believe because he focused on God's character and was confident in His God and that God was in control. He let go and let God, as someone once said.
He goes on to now take what he as learned for himself and commands others to do so.
Trust in Him at all times, you people;
Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah
He knew God to be a refuge and invited others to Trust God.
If there is one thing we can do, Trust God. TRUST Him. Really Really Trust Him
Men are fallible God is infallible.
Men are lies, God is True.
Men are mortal, God is Immortal.
Who do you want to trust in?
I love verse 8. It is one of my favorite verses. I like that David uses an inclusive terms, "for us". We all have this blessed privilege to run to the Lord for a place of refuge.
Verse 11
God has spoken once,
Twice I have heard this:
That power belongs to God.
Amen. Amen. Amen.
The power belongs to God.
Verse 12
Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy;
For You render to each one according to his work.
Here David goes reminding God of His mercy. David lived on the seat of God's mercy. So should we.
Alas, my encouragement to you is to keep yourself in a place where God can bless you. Do those things that God is please with and if accusations come, you are guiltless.
Whatever you are going through, Don't be moved.
Don't let the enemy rob you of your joy, your faith, and your heart for God. God is the refuge,He is the power, He is the Only Rock that is infallibly stable and able to defend.
Just writing this blog makes my heart rejoice even more because looking at my circumstances with al these things in mind: I am victorious already. God is in control and He has great things for us.
I may not know what to expect, but from God my expectation comes from.
It's going to be amazing.
Trust and Commit it all in His hands.
He loves us.
Blessings.
