Psa 65:1
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. A Song.
Praise is awaiting You, O God, in Zion;
And to You the vow shall be performed.
Psa 65:2
O You who hear prayer,
To You all flesh will come.
Psa 65:3
Iniquities prevail against me;
As for our transgressions,
You will provide atonement for them.
Psa 65:4
Blessed is the man You choose,
And cause to approach You,
That he may dwell in Your courts.
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house,
Of Your holy temple.
Psa 65:5
By awesome deeds in righteousness You will answer us,
O God of our salvation,
You who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth,
And of the far-off seas;
Psa 65:6
Who established the mountains by His strength,
Being clothed with power;
Psa 65:7
You who still the noise of the seas,
The noise of their waves,
And the tumult of the peoples.
Psa 65:8
They also who dwell in the farthest parts are afraid of Your signs;
You make the outgoings of the morning and evening rejoice.
Psa 65:9
You visit the earth and water it,
You greatly enrich it;
The river of God is full of water;
You provide their grain,
For so You have prepared it.
Psa 65:10
You water its ridges abundantly,
You settle its furrows;
You make it soft with showers,
You bless its growth.
Psa 65:11
You crown the year with Your goodness,
And Your paths drip with abundance.
Psa 65:12
They drop on the pastures of the wilderness,
And the little hills rejoice on every side.
Psa 65:13
The pastures are clothed with flocks;
The valleys also are covered with grain;
They shout for joy, they also sing.

My Thoughts
Song Heart of Worship
Verse 1
Praise is awaiting You, O God, in Zion;
And to You the vow shall be performed.
David was a man of praise. David longed to be in the courts of His God. He had such a passion for worship and adoration for God.
It excited him to be in the place where God's presence was dwelling and he continually sang about it before the Lord.
Oh to have a heart of worship. Oh to long to be in the house of God. I think life can have away of making this wonderful thing into a routine of the mundane, but oh that we keep our hearts invigorated for the presence of God. Oh that our hearts would burst forth in psalms and praise to the Everlasting Father for who He is and for all the wonderful works that He has done for us.
Verse 2
O You who hear prayer,
To You all flesh will come.
Oh you who seek God in prayer; He hears. Oh know that when you pray; He hears. He hears. He is listening, oh wounded soul, arise. God hears and is mighty to save.
(Verse 3)
Iniquities prevail against me;
As for our transgressions,
You will provide atonement for them.
Oh do you find yourself caught up in your iniquities. Here David is very keenly aware of his sins and folliess and he says that God will provide atonement for them. David didn't have the redemption of Jesus like we do. Instead of saying like David, God will provide, we can say, He has provided. It is great to be in the past tense. Jesus came and conquered sin and death. No longer can our sins prevail against us for they are cast as far as the East is from the West. If you need to confess to Jesus today, Confess it and let Him cleanse and renew a right heart and spirit in you today.
(Verse 4-5)
Blessed is the man You choose,
And cause to approach You,
That he may dwell in Your courts.
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house,
Of Your holy temple.
By awesome deeds in righteousness You will answer us,
O God of our salvation,
You who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth,
And of the far-off seas;
I love that David talks about the man God chooses. You know David was the least in his family and yet God anointed him king over all the others in his house. If you remember Jesse, his dad, didn't even call David when Samuel the prophet came to anoint one of his sons. Talk about feeling left out. Yet, God was watching all the time, and saw David in the field worship and praising Him.
God has chosen you. If you have Christ in your heart, you've been chosen. I love to be chosen. Chosen to win contest, chosen to be on a team, chosen just has a way of making you feel special. Don't you think?
Well You are chosen so feel special today.
Then David says, "You will answer us"
David first was confident in that God hears us, now he is confident that God will answer.
Recently, Eddie, my husband, had our Bible study watch the movie, "War Room". It is all about the power of prayer and the answers that God brings to those hearts cry. It really was a wonderful reminder that God does answer prayer.
Are you waiting for answers? I know I am. What do we do while we wait, Keep praying and praising. Sometimes all we can do is just praise Him. Turn on that worship music and get lost in His presence and fully surrender to Him all those things that concern you. He loves you and He will answer.
(verses 9-13)
This Psalm reminds me of a beautiful spring day. Where every thing has been watered and you have the fresh fragrance of newly fallen rain.
David was such an outdoors kinda guy. I think we city folk miss out on experiencing the beauty of creation by just living in concrete walls. David lived and breathed the outdoors, and because of that he was really surrounded by God's glorious handiwork.
Have you ever gone on a retreat to the mountains and come away feeling closer to God? More Refreshed? Invigorated?
I know I have. I think being out in creation inspired David to write this Psalm.
Verse 11
You crown the year with Your goodness,
And Your paths drip with abundance.
I have to say this is my favorite verse in this Psalm. Maybe because we just entered a new year, or because it speaks of God's provision, I just love it. He crowns the year with His goodness. Oh, I need that today. I need to know that God has crowned this year with Goodness. In another Psalm it says, "I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the LORD
In the land of the living." Psalm 27:13
Just to focus on the goodness of the Lord everyday is away to help from being in despair. God is so wonderful and so awesome that no matter what we face or what is facing this world, He is good. Try to turn from looking at all that is "wrong" or "evil" in this world, and focus on seeing what God is doing. We know that He is coming soon. He promises in His word that He will be with us ever step of the way. Look for His goodness and believe that you will see it soon.
Remember He crowns the year with goodness
and His paths drop with abundance.
What a great way to start this year.
Thank you Lord.
Blessings.
