To the Chief Musician. On the instrument of Gath.fn A Psalm of David.
O LORD, our Lord,
How excellent is Your name in all the earth,
Who have set Your glory above the heavens!
Psa 8:2
Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants
You have ordained strength,
Because of Your enemies,
That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.
Psa 8:3
When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
Psa 8:4
What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
Psa 8:5
For You have made him a little lower than the angels,fn
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
Psa 8:6
You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet,
Psa 8:7
All sheep and oxen--
Even the beasts of the field,
Psa 8:8
The birds of the air,
And the fish of the sea
That pass through the paths of the seas.
Psa 8:9

No matter if it's one verse, one phrase, or one single word, Stop and think
about it for just a minute.

Possibly, Right?
3. That's the Word speaking to you.
4. Pray and Thank God for this revelation and ask Him to make it clear how He wants to use it in your life

My Thoughts
This is the 2nd Messianic Psalms which means that it is a Psalm that is prophetically talking about Jesus. There are 3 different references in the New Testament that relates back to this Psalm.
Matt 21:16 suckling feet, 1 Cor 15: 27 All things under his feet, Hebrew 2:5 little lower than angles.
(taken from J.Vernon Mcgee notes)
Why is this important?
Because it this Psalm is describing things that were in the future. It was written about Jesus's triumphal entry as well as what it will be like when Jesus reigns on this Earth. Although, God is in control of our lives, there is a coming a time when HE will be on the Earth ruling and reigning.
We have hope as Christians that one day we will be in a complete world full of God's glory. Amen.
What verse that spoke to me today was verse 9
O LORD, our Lord,
How excellent is Your name in all the earth!
For the world this is not the case. God's name isn't so excellent is it?
But to us a Christians, the name of God is so precious and beautiful and full of encouragement.
Studying the Names of God is fascinating. There are so many different ways God reveals Himself to us: Healer, Provider, Protector, Present Help, Peace and on and on.
Lately I've been loving the name "The Lord our God." God calls Himself this name in the 10 commandments, and Moses uses this reference over 100 times.
It's powerful to know that God's name is The Lord our God.
God gave me a song that I wrote and have been loving to play lately from this.
May the Lord inspire you to create a new song to Him from one of the truths you learn from this Psalm or other passage of scripture.
Awww I can't wait till His name is excellent over the face of the Earth, can you?
Blessings
