Your Thoughts
My Thoughts
How do you prepare for the holidays season?
Ps 81:1-4 tells us to get on our praise.
In praise, we are remembering who God is and all His wonderful attributes.
I just love worship. I love seeing people fully immersed in the praises of God.
Lately my kids have been sharing in worship with me on stage. I can't tell you how it ministers to me to have my family be a blessing in leading others in worship. I love it.
Verses 5-6
This is the part in the the Psalm that they rehearse the history of their journey. It's amazing how the Lord brought the people to Egypt where they didn't even speak the language. He kept them there and they continued to maintain their culture and hertiage. Finally, the Lord allowed them on a pilgrimage home to Israel.
Have you been on a pilgrimage? Can you rehearse the testimonies of God in your life? Sometimes, at the end of a new year like this is good to remember all that God has taken you through.
Verse 7-10
God says he tested them at Meirabah a place the means contention. This is the place in the desert where the Israelites cried out for water. There Moses struck the Rock and water came out for all.
It's an amazing miracle and yet the hearts of the people would not listen.
Verse 10
God is telling them to open wide their mouths. He wanted to be the one to fill them to satisfy them. Yet, the didn't want that.
God is asking us to come to Him for our needs. Matt 6 is a great chapter that reminds us that God is so capable of providing for us. Trust Him for all your means and all your needs. He loves to come through.
Verse 11-16
What a plea I see God is making with His people. What a father's heart God has for us!
1. If they would only listen
2. Worship no one else but Him.
Do you think these things are so unreasonable for God to ask His people?
Just think of how much He is willing to do for them but what prevented them from obtaining the blessings?
Stubborn Hearts.
The world is pulling on us all the time. Vying for our attention, our worship, our time. The world wants us to conform tho their standards, their way of thinking and sadly so many christians are in a compromised state.
Here the Israelites still wanted to follow after the world. Here they chose not to listen to what God has to say about life, but what they thought about life.
Gods ways and thoughts are so much higher than ours. There is nothing that we can think that would ever come close to God's unsearchable counsel.
Oh if you find yourself harmonizing with the world: watch out.
Where are those voices going to lead you? What do they really want from you?
Verse 16
God says he would have satisfied them. He would have given them what they really needed and really allowed them to live in peace and freedom.
Oh that we might learn from their mistakes. May we listen to what God has to say about things and learn to worship Him and Him only.
